July Blog update

So, below there are several new posts. It has taken a while to catalog and post our month of July. We've been busy. Lots of Family Field Trip days and fun moments to capture and share. BUT, we are now on vacation at the Lake House...there will be other posts of our times here later. For now, it's time to play catch-up. Enjoy!

Family Field Trip Day - StoryLand!

Our biggest field trip of the summer was our day long visit to StoryLand. A charming amusement park designed entirely with kids in mind. It was a wonderful HOT day. Lots of story book characters, rides, and even a circus. It was a busy day.

Family Field Trip Day - Beach Hill Farm

The kids love this place. It is a farm just up the road from us. They have lots of animals...cows, goats, rabbits, pigs, horses and peacocks. The peacock had an interesting reaction to Brogan who was very impressed by the tail full of feathers. It was the first time I've ever seen a peacock "Shake" it's tail feathers at us. We weren't sure if it was a warning to stay away or an attempt to attract the one female peahen. Either way, it was impressive. We had ice cream. Yummy! And then the kids played in the big sandbox for a bit.

ASP Crew Races

We took a friend with us this year to watch the ASP Crew Race. Every year Brian does the commentating. Crew isn't the easiest sport to observe at SPS. The route is long but you can only view parts of it along the way. We like to see the finish (most people do). It is usually very exciting. Brogan was impressed with all the rocks he could throw into the lake and the boats...in that order.

Primary Activity

The kids celebrated Pioneer Days at a primary activity this year. They played lots of games. They really enjoyed the potato races. They had to push a potato across the floor with their nose. The girls did great and had fun. We appreciate all the hard work our primary teachers do.

4th of July

Okay, so I've been late in posting this particular round of images. It's been a busy month for us though. We spent the 4th of July the way we usually do. Our town fireworks are let off in the big field just behind our church building. So, every year we go over around 6:30 or so....bring lots of snacks, lawn chairs, and believe it or not....guitar hero. Brian sets it up outside on a big wide screen with a projector. It's always fun. The kids have fun running around the parking lot with their friends. Doing sparklers and eventually settling down for the big show. Brogan stayed up this year and was rewarded and impressed by all the loud explosions.

The Jacket...

We bought Brogan his very own comfy new life jacket. He LOVES it. In fact, he loves it so much that he thinks he needs to wear it every time we go outside. Why? Because, it's a JACKET. He will stand at the door and call, "Jacket! Jacket! Jacket!" If we try to leave the house or just go outside to play.

Family Field Trip Day - Discovery Shop

This summer we dedicated Wednesday afternoons to "Family Field Trip" days. This was one of the favorite adventures. We took the kids to "Discovery Shop". It is basically an indoor playground...or one of those really big cool hamster cages for humans. We've had such a soggy summer that this particular wet and rainy afternoon was spent blowing off extra energy running and playing here. The kids loved it. There were also a bunch of little section set up as play centers. A mail shop. A magnet room. A digging station (rocks and cranes). Doll houses. A grocery store. Etc. We will certainly be making return visits.

Oo-LA-LA You're soooo posh!

KK loves the Fancy Nancy books. Here she is channelling her inner Diva...I'm pretty sure Miss Nancy would approve.

How to entertain a boy...at the salon...

I took the girls to get hair cuts today (see post following this for the UBER-CUTE results). In an effort to entertain the boy while they were cut & styled, we did several things:

1: We brought the Ipod.

2. We brought the "Nigh-Night" (his special blanket...it will be washed tonight while he sleeps!).

3. We gave him a doughnut.

4. We let him play on the furniture

He was VERY good for an hour...and besides, who wouldn't love THIS face:

OR THIS one:

Snip-Snip-Snip

Every Summer Cass likes to cut her hair short. This is SUCH a cute cut on her. She looks all grown-up with it. KK also got her hair done today. What can I say? I have some pretty cute girlies!

And HERE are the "personality" shots:

Funny Story

No photos with this one, just a cute little tale:
This summer the girls have been taking swim lessons. KK goes in the morning and Cass goes in the afternoon. Brian takes KK and I take Cass. The girls have the same teacher though. Today she remarked to me, "There is a girl in my morning preschool class who looks EXACTLY like Cass, named Kayla." I told her that they were sisters and she replied with, "Well, that explains it all. I thought they were twins separated at birth." It is true that the 2 of them share some very striking resemblances. As there mom, of course, I see the similarities but I don't look at them anymore and think ,"Wow, they could be twins". Moments like this though remind me that you certainly can't deny the genetic link these 2 peas-in-a-pod share. They are cute as buttons. They have the same dark chocolate brown eyes, a red tint to their hair, sweet little smiles and tiny little noses....I guess they do have a little in common, if not a lot.
